Englewood, on the Cape Haze Peninsula where the white sandy shores of the Gulf of Mexico meet Lemon Bay, is a charming beach community ready to welcome you to cool tropical breezes and warm hospitality. Englewood has something for everyone to enjoy: pristine nature parks, swimming, boating, fishing and golf. There are no big crowds here, just plenty of white sand lapped by gentle waves from the Gulf of Mexico into which you can sink your toes while searching for exotic and colourful seashells.
Gasparilla Island is one of a chain of barrier islands that extends along the coast, separated from the mainland by Charlotte Harbor and Pine Island Sound. Swimming, shelling, fishing, sailing, hiking and picnicking are just some of the activities you can engage in. This area has a very scenic view of Boca Grande Pass, a swift waterway that is the entrance to Charlotte Harbor. Swimming is not allowed here, but the recreation area has several other small swimming beaches along Gulf Boulevard.

along the Gulf Coast, accessed by boat or ferry; cars are permitted.
This tropical paradise where visitors will enjoy a peaceful seclusion
includes one mile of gorgeous white sand beach that is a state
recreation area, excellent for swimming and shelling. There is a picnic
pavilion, tables, grills and public restrooms. Island activities
include golf, sailing, boat rentals, charter fishing trips,
snorkelling, windsurfing and hiking.
Port Charlotte is a small waterfront community and the most
modern of the area’s cities because it is the newest. Its beach park
borders Charlotte Harbour and offers many recreations, including a
fishing pier and swimming pools. For a quiet respite the Port Charlotte
Beach and Pier is a nice place for a picnic. The area is well known for
its many challenging golf courses. Port Charlotte has a great location,
just a short drive of around 30 minutes to Siesta Key Beach in Sarasota
and Boca Grande.
Punta Gorda is situated at the mouth of the Peace River, its old
mansions remembering the heydays of high living line the waterfront
across from lovely Gilchrist Park which today serves as a gathering
spot for strollers, bikers and the occasional evening musical jam
session. Browsers will find delightful new shops and restaurants in old
digs from brick edifices to jauntily painted bungalows. Fishermen’s
Village, another popular shopping venue, occupies an old crab-packing
plant on the water.
Rotonda is a small community located on the Peninsula, where you
will discover a part of Florida that is off the beaten path, unspoilt
and uncrowded with beautiful white sandy beaches providing
opportunities for sunbathing, swimming, beachcombing, searching for
seashells or just enjoying the sunset. Rotonda is a perfect circle
divided into eight equal parts, seven given to the development of high
calibre homes and the eighth a nature reserve providing habitat for the
regions wilder occupants.
