A book released in late March called UFO Sightings Desk Reference: United States of America 2001-2015 written by Cheryl Costa, a retired Aerospace Industry Information Security professional, indicates that over the past few years California residents have reported over 120,000 unidentified flying objects - more than any other place in the United States. Costa, who believes the heavy UFO activity there can be attributed to the weather (even aliens can appreciate constant sun and mid-range temps) and explains that the more people are able to be outside, as is the case in California, the more chances they have to spot something unusual.

Costa's evidence of these sightings was pulled from data collected by the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) as well as the National UFO Reporting Center, but she realizes that it may still be hard for some people to believe that we're not the only ones spinning through space on a ball of gas.

"Most people were very sincere about what they reported, about what they think they saw, Costa said. "They weren't jerking us around. But we understand the only proof some people are going to accept is a space ship cracked up in the mall parking lot."
