In October something strange was swimming in the waters of Fairbanks, Alaska and it was captured on video.

A man working for the Bureau of Land Management filmed a viral video of something swimming in the Chena River in Fairbanks, Alaska. Many compared the mysterious "creature" to the legendary Loch Ness monster in Scotland.

Craig McCaa called his discovery a "strange thing." It looked akin to a snake as it slithered through the water. It was roughly 12-to-15-foot-long and moved back and forth for several minutes on Oct. 18.

Many believed that, while the video was compelling and eerie, there was a logical explanation to this sea monster. And it seems they were right. According to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, the video captured "frazil ice stuck to a rope that is probably caught on a bridge pier."

So, there you have it! For the time being, there's no proof of an Alaskan Loch Ness.
