Biography: Since competing in his first barbecue competition in 1990, Johnny Trigg of Smokin’ Triggers has won sixty-three Grand Championships and earned countless category wins. Accompanied by Trish, his wife and teammate, the duo have competed in more than 600 barbecue competitions and cooked barbecue in nearly every state. Johnny and Trish even traveled to Kuwait in 2010 to cook for our Armed Forces.
With victories in 2000 and 2003, Johnny is the only two-time Jack Daniel's World Championship Invitational Barbecue Champion. Johnny’s biggest trophy of all, physically, is the full dress Harley Davidson Ultra Classic motorcycle awarded to him for winning the 2007 L-P Que Barbecue Championship in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. And his most cherished prize is the $50,000 purse won on national television during Kingsford's BBQ Pitmasters Season 3 – the competition Johnny won to earn an invite to the Kingsford Invitational.
Feared most by fellow competitors for his award-winning ribs and brisket, Johnny remains the oldest active competitor in barbecue, and he has no intention of slowing down anytime soon.
